(Washington, DC) - The Washington Convention and Sports Authority (WCSA) today introduced its state-of-the-art Oculus Digital Signage Network. The network is comprised of more than 140 digital displays and signs throughout the Walter E. Washington Convention Center that will provide customized updated information including daily event schedules and other event and building details, special production video for events, advertisements, sponsor and exhibitor content, broadcast television, internal video broadcasts, event video distribution and artistic content.
''There is very high demand for this type of product and our Convention Center has the infrastructure to take digital signage to the next level,'' said Gregory A. O'Dell, president and CEO of the Washington Convention and Sports Authority. ''In addition to the benefits for Center visitors, this comprehensive digital sponsorship and wayfinding system is a revenue generator for our customers who can develop their own content or work with their partners to deliver targeted information to attendees.''
The Microsoft 2010 Worldwide Partner Conference, which takes place this week, will be the first customer in the building to use the new digital signage. Microsoft plans to display exhibitor information and a schedule of events, while also sharing video content that includes a Hall of Fame and company commercials.
''As the first to use the Convention Center's digital signage network, we plan to take full advantage of its capabilities'' said Microsoft's Pam Salzer, senior marketing director. ''The tech-savvy attendees of the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference will benefit from the network's ability to provide real-time updates, information on event schedules and location and the rich video content that will be displayed.''
Features of the digital signage include:
 Compelling HD flat-panel displays
Full motion graphics that display schedules of events and serve as navigational aids
 Flexible content updates in real-time
Localized message distribution by segment and location
Event TV - live event broadcasting that distributes footage of any event taking place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center to displays throughout the building
Customized tours of the digital signage are available upon request.
