Benefits Available to Washington Convention Center Authority Employees

The Washington Convention Center Authority (WCCA), offers employees a rich fringe benefits package worth about 28% of salary. Our comprehensive program includes everything from health insurance to reduced rate parking. These benefits are available to regular full-time employees, their spouses and eligible dependents. Benefits are prorated for regular part-time employees.

Retirement Plan

WCCA contributes the equivalent of 7% of an employee's salary to a 401(a) deferred contribution plan. Contributions begin immediately and there is a four-year vesting schedule. Employees have the option to make an irrevocable election of 2,5,or 10% of their gross wages deducted on a pre-tax basis.

In addition, employees may choose to contribute up to $15,000 per year in a 457 tax-deferred investment program. Employees aged 50 or over may contribute up to $20,000 for calendar year 2006.

Healthcare Benefits

Medical*
We offer the full complement of Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Capitol Care products. This includes the HMO, point-of-service (POS) and preferred provider (PPO) plans – giving our employees the broadest possible choices for healthcare.

Dental Insurance
WCCA offers a comprehensive dental indemnity plan to employees, the Preferred Dentist Plan, through MetLife.

Vision Plan
An excellent vision plan, with Vision Service Plan, is offered supported by an extensive network of doctors.

* WCCA pays 90% of the premium for single coverage and 80% for double and family premiums. Employee premium payments are pre-tax.

Life Insurance

Life insurance coverage is provided at no cost to employees and their dependents:

Employee coverage is two (2) times annual salary to a maximum of $300,000;

Spouse coverage is $5,000 and

Child(ren) coverage is $2,500.

Optional Life Insurance (Employee Paid)

Employee coverage is five (5) times annual salary to a maximum of $500,000;

Spouse coverage is a maximum of $100,000 and

Child(ren) coverage is a maximum of $10,000.

Short & Long-Term Disability

Short and Long-Term Disability insurance is provided at no cost to employees. Short Term Disability benefits are paid at 66 2/3% of the employee’s weekly earnings, up to $1,500 per week. Long Term Disablity benefits are paid at 60% of the empolyee’s monthly earnings, up to $6,000 per month.

Vacation Leave

Regular full-time employees earn vacation leave based on the following schedule:

Less than 36 months

10 days

36 months but less than 60 months

15 days

60 months but less than 120 months

20 days

Department Managers and Directors accrue 20 days of vacation leave beginning the first day of employment.

Holidays and Personal Days

Employees earn eight (8) holidays and 4 personal days per year.

Sick Leave

Employees earn 12 sick leave days per year.

Parking or Metrochecks

WCCA offers either reduced rate parking in the building ($50.00 per month) or METRO checks to employees to supplement the cost of public transit (up to $50.00 per month).

Employee Assistance Program

Free confidential counseling and referrals for work, personal or family problems are provided to employees and immediate family members.

Educational Assistance and Training / Development

Eligible employees may apply for the Educational Assistance Program after completion of twelve (12) months of continuous service. WCCA provides continuous opportunities for training and staff development.
