Net square feet (nsf) is defined as the actual display area less
aisle space and food service areas. Net square footage shall not
be less than forty percent (40%) of the gross square footage of
area are licensed.
The Walter E. Washington Convention Center shall have the option to
exclude complimentary space. For rental calculation, no more
than 5% of the total net square footage will be deducted for
complimentary exhibits or displays. Complimentary exhibits or
displays are defined as non-revenue producing, whether provided
to an exhibitor at no charge, as an exchange or utilized by
show management for purposes other than producing revenue.
The Walter E. Washington Convention Center provides registration space
in designated public areas on a complimentary basis.
Registration equipment, telephones, electrical services and
other utilities are not included.
One permanent show office shall be provided for each exhibit
hall licensed.
Full lighting, heating and air-conditioning are provided during
event hours. Fifty percent lighting will be maintained during
move in/out periods, rehearsals, and similar pre and post event
activities. The lessee will be assessed a utility charge for
special lighting and comfort-level requirements during move-in
and move-out.
The Walter E. Washington Convention Center shall provide cleaning of
the public areas, meeting rooms, and restrooms throughout the
event. Cleaning shall not include individual booths or the
vacuuming of aisle carpet. Lessee shall be responsible for
removal of all bulk trash, crates, lumber, and packing materials
prior to show opening, during, and following move-out. Any
costs incurred by the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for trash
not removed by the Lessee shall be charged to the Lessee at the
prevailing rate.

The Walter E. Washington Convention Center, at its option, may grant
the use of meeting rooms at no charge to the lessee under the
following conditions:
Meeting rooms may be provided at no charge in such numbers
as are proportionate to the actual amount of exhibit space used.
Such rooms granted will include an initial set-up utilizing available
inventory of tables, chairs and lecterns. Change-overs and
revised room set-ups will be charged at the prevailing rate.
Meeting rooms shall be used for purposes directly related to the
event. Meeting rooms shall not be assigned or sublet to others.
In the event the lessee resells meeting rooms to exhibitors for
hospitality rooms, product demonstrations, sales meetings or
similar purposes, lessee shall pay the Washington Convention
Center the prevailing daily rental rate applicable for that space.
Meeting rooms used as a revenue-producing exhibition area
shall be charged at the daily rate.
The Ballroom is not included in meeting space available at no
charge. The Ballroom rates are specified in the Rate Schedule.
East and West Registration, L Street Bridge, Grand Lobby and
public areas are reserved for uses such as registration, circulation,
message centers, information, ticket sales, receptions, distribution
of publications, etc. Use of such spaces is subject to
approval of Walter E. Washington Convention Center management.
Registration equipment, telephones, and electrical services are
not included. Registration plans and space utilization must be
approved in advance by the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
